About

The Kansas Cherokee Community Organization (KCCO) is based in Kansas, Oklahoma. Established in June 2022, KCCO is led by three officers and two board members. From its inception, the organization was driven by a shared vision to celebrate Cherokee culture and create opportunities for the community to come together through cultural events, educational programs, and wellness initiatives. KCCO has been recognized with the Best in Reporting Award, Above and Beyond Award, and Organization of the Year Award. KCCO is committed to fostering growth by upholding a strong sense of community stewardship—preserving Cherokee traditions and supporting initiatives like the Hawiya Community Food Sovereignty Program. As we move into 2025, our mission remains steadfast: to work alongside our partners to honor our heritage and continue strengthening our community. We are proud to be a longstanding resource for the citizens of the greater Kansas area.

Our events are open to the public, not limited to tribal citizens. Kansas and Surrounding Area Residents are all welcome!

We are located at the new Kansas Cherokee Community Center 1328 E. Tulsa Ave (by the helicopter pad and old American Legion).

Our monthly meetings are held on the first Thursday of the month at 6:00 p.m.

We welcome new volunteers who have a love to give back to the community.
